It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

I don't know about all of you, but aside from the Steelers dropping the ball (literally!) on Monday Night Football, I've been enjoying this wonderful week of December!....

Saturday, the 17th, marked 21 years that the mister and I have been....well, the mister and I! To celebrate, we went to Salt Life for dinner and had their most delicious 'Shrimp Bro Chette' -- shrimp wrapped in bacon(!!), skewered and alternated with big, juicy chunks of fresh pineapple, brushed with a fabulous Teriyaki glaze, grilled to perfection and served with a house rice that includes mango and sweet red peppers -- it is to DIE for!! (and, where I got to meet my favorite "local celebrity", Rebecca Barry, the meteorologist from Channel 4 News, so that was fun, too)

Not only did he take me out to dinner, but he brought me home a brand new digital camera, because even though I already have a fairly good one, I've been wanting one that will allow me to get better far-away shots (for all those waterbirds and high-flying squirrels we encounter on our little Island walks, not to mention better field shots of the Axemen games!) as well as close, close-ups for those flutter-bys, gecko guests and pretty garden flowers come spring!

Saturday, we finished Christmas shopping for the kiddos...everybody got something they asked Santa for, so I'm hoping the reception is more favorable this year, although I doubt it will be more entertaining!

While we were out, I found some perfect panel curtains for the living and dining room windows, and they actually came in PAIRS, if you believe it! I've been searching for some time, looking for a color and pattern I like while not breaking the bank, and everywhere I looked they were sold individually (and when you have to buy 8 of them, that gets to be pricey!) But, Ross was the place, and I found these beautiful sage curtains (very much like those pictured, except these have a subtle two-tone broad vertical stripe that I absolutely LOVE!) And, since we got such a great deal on the curtains, we got new decorative (wrought-iron vines) rods for them, as well! Now, I just need to get three of those wooden roller blinds and my living room window treatments will be complete!

And, of course, here in the Northern Hemisphere, tonight marks the Winter Solstice - the longest night of the year, It's Yule, Hanukkah, and with Christmas only four days away, the sun is shining on us at the beach, and the temps are reaching into the 70's. If that makes it a bit harder for us transplanted snow-birds to get into the spirit of things, some really enchanting holiday music can help with that dilemma...

I do hope we get some lower temperatures over the coming weekend though, so that I can wear my new boots and sweater dress to celebrate the holidays in style! The mister works today, tomorrow and Friday, then he's on vacation until January 2nd, so I'm hoping to get a chance to wear some of my sweaters, jackets and cute boots...As for today, I think I'll take advantage of this perfect weather , get creative, and make myself a yule log....

Happy Holidays & Brightest Blessings in the coming year!
