Don't Worry; Be Happy

I came across this meme that was tailor-made for the quote-collector that I am, soooo...I just *had* to play along! Vicki Brown over at In Other Words posts a different quote each Tuesday, and invites everyone to use it as a writing prompt & share their thoughts on it. This week's quote:

Quote for Jul 17
The pursuit of happiness is a most ridiculous phrase; if you pursue happiness you'll never find it.
-- C. P. Snow

Happiness is a state of being. If you spend your efforts looking for it in some future sense - when you have more money, a bigger house, less bills, a newer car - you will never find it. One should condition themselves to BE happy; enjoy the blessings that ARE in one's life and recognize the good in what is already reality...when you do this, contentent, satisfaction, and happiness will find you.

Does that sound naive' or fatuous to you? Easier said than done? Perhaps. But, I am a firm believer that your life is what you make it; so, you can bemoan and complain about your lot in life. Be miserable now, waiting on that *one thing* that will make it all better at some nebulous time in the distant future,

or

You can choose to see the good in TODAY; notice the sunrise and the color patterns it creates in the morning sky...be mindful of the every-day, simple pleasures that your life affords you and enjoy them NOW. BE Happy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
And, while I'm on this train of thought, I think this is a good point at which to add my weekly photo:
You see, Nancy agrees with me. She created this exercise, in her words, "to get people to look at the world in a different way, to acknowledge–if only for the brief time they do this exercise–that there is good in everything and everyone…to briefly change shadow to light..."
So, take a look at this photo, and leave me a comment telling me what goodness you see...and, remember;
Its never too late to live happily ever after.
The goodness I see in that photo is that everything seems to have progressed naturally, without interruption or interference, and I think that's why it all looks so peaceful.
I agree with the main gist of this post. "It's better to want what you have than to have what you want." I remind myself of that all the time. If I could just stay focused on the moment ... on what's in front of me ... I'd be much happier.
I see dinner. Sitting in my boat on a clear-as-glass pond, the buzz of the reel as I cast toward the shore and the excitment of the "ping" of my line jerking as I wrestle in the 3 pound lunker trout!
I see serenity, reflection, hiding places for fish and birds, and light shadows dancing around.
I like that one too, Gal; "Its better to want what you have than have what you want." Goes right along with "Easier said than done" sometimes, tho, don't it?! LoL
