Hookers Wanted:

C'mon?! I live two-blocks from the main road into a Naval Base...do you really think I'd need to advertise HERE for *that* kind of hooker??!

And, no, we aren't looking to start our own Rugby team, either.

What we need are CRAFTERS - crocheters, more precisely. Now, much to my Gram's chagrin, I do NOT crochet (or knit, or needlepoint, or...) BUT....

See, Shelly over at This Eclectic Life has a wonderful idea, that I want to help come to fruition.

Here’s my idea. I’ve found a granny afghan pattern that is very simple. It requires 24 small squares and 6 large squares, but it could work with just 48 small squares. If I can get people to send me the crocheted squares, then I’ll ask folks in my community to put them together; I’m not shy. With every square you send, attach a signed “best wishes” card (you can give an e-mail address to the child if you want). Each afghan will be put together with squares and good wishes from at least thirty different people.

Now...doesn't that sound like a FABULOUS idea??!!! When the afghans have been completed, they will be donated to Camp Sanguinity in Fort Worth Tx, a children's camp for kids with cancer. All the squares are to be sent to Shelly, who will put 'em all together and get them to the kids (all the details are on Shelly's blog, in THIS POST, and I'll add a link in my sidebar so it's oh-so-simple to join in the fun.)

So, I implore you: Be a Hooker - Do it for the kids!!

You are a Sweetheart, Mo! Thank you so much for helping me publicize. I'll be adding info as I go along. I have a coffee shop in my community that has agreed to invite everyone in town to come Share A Square. We'll have yarn and crochet hooks, and people can come and sip coffee and crochet. Wouldn't it be cool to have an afghan made with squares from all over the continent and beyond!
I appreciate your help!

I love your title for this post!!! I am also on board with Shelly and I can't wait to see this into fruition and to know that I was a part of making it happen.

I don't know if I can get a coffee shop to go for it, but I'm going to see if I can get some ladies at my church to each make one square - that'll at least give me 20 that I don't have to make...lol and get me jump started.

That sounds like a great idea, but alas, I'm not a hooker. Heck, I picked up a needle and thread for the first time ever last week and nearly fainted at the thought of it.

I would like to help out as much as I can to make an afghan for cancer patients. I lost both my Mom and my brother due to it.

I also want to make an afghan for the Veterans at the VA Hosp my brother was at in Rocky Hill, CT.
My brother received the Purple Heart while in Viet Nam and almost didn't make it home. Please contact me at: janay1921@sbcglobal.net (my email address) and my blog at: http://rosesblog.blogdrive.com
